Farewell to Paris, France!

I cannot believe that it is already that time. Tyler and I have officially packed up our flat. It is such a bitter sweet feeling. We are going to miss living over here SO much- but we are also SO excited about being back in Texas near our friends and family. We were only able to live in our place in Austin for about 3-4 weeks after our wedding- so we can't wait to get back to all of our stuff that has just been sitting there for 5-6 months.

Tyler and I have a flight tomorrow morning that leaves Paris at 9:00 a.m. and will be landing in Houston sometime in the afternoon. Look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Layla Mae Hizem

The family I have been working for this summer just had their baby girl. Her name is Layla Mae Hizem. She is precious and so much fun to hold.

Wow!

Boy do I have a story for you...

On Saturday morning I was getting ready because Mittsi Moore (Dee's sweet sister) was coming to Paris, from London, for the weekend. Tyler was at work and I was still in my pajamas just organizing some things when my phone rang and it was Tyler. He wanted me to run something down to him quickly so he could head back to work. I was frustrated because I didn't want to get dressed and have to walk down 6 flights of steps. Well, he convinced me to walk all the way down and to the front door of our building. When I met him there he whispered "Catherine...look at this creepy man sitting on the bench behind me," so I did and it was the scariest old man in a big black over coat sitting there. It looked like he was staring at us so I got nervous and said "TYLER DON'T LOOK AT HIM- he is looking over here." I was starting to get even more afraid. The next thing I know this freak is walking up towards me and the back of Tyler. At this point I was thinking "which way do I run or should I just scream." He then attempted to push at Tyler and Tyler seemed really afraid and I was about to LOOSE IT. I hadn't looked the old man in the face because I was too afraid- but when I finally did he was taking off a mask. And guess who it was??? My Dad!!!!!! Immediately tears popped out of my eyes like never before. I was in shock- because I was SO excited yet still recovering from being so freaked out. ha! It was quite the prank- one I will never forget. I cannot tell you how special it was for him to fly all the way over here to spend time with Tyler and I before we move home. We had a BLAST together. We shopped, got massages, had some amazing meals, did a bike tour of Paris, went to Normandy beaches (D-Day)...and so much more. It was a blast!

Here are just a few pictures from the prank and from our time together.

NORMANDY TRIP!

But first a bit of history...During WWII the Nazis occupied all of Northern France. On June 6, 1944 the Allies (USA, England, and Canada) organized an invasion of the beaches of Normandy to drive all the Nazis out. This date is known as D-Day.

About to board our train from Paris to Normandy!

Above is a picture of Pointe Du Hoc- which is the point at Omaha Beach where the American Ranger's landed.

The American Cemetery. It was amazing, I had the chills.

Fun Times with my Aunt Suzanne

My Aunt Suzanne left to head back to Houston on Wednesday morning. We had a blast together. I think I talked her ear off- it felt so good to be with family/ a mother figure in my life. We went to London for 2 nights and just shopped and did fun girl things, then we took the train to Paris for 3 nights and I was able to stay with her at the Hotel. Which by the way- she knows how to travel- she stays at the most incredible hotels. I didn't want to leave and come back to our tiny flat. But it is nice to be back home with Tyler- I almost forgot I was married at times because Aunt Suzanne and I were so busy and having so much fun.

Here are a few pictures from our time together:

Asleep at the wheel!

The other day when I was babysitting I took Alex out on his tricycle. It is one of those where I can push a handle to guide him if needed. Well, I noticed that he kept almost running into the wall or street or he would almost fall off his seat- so I would have to guide him. Too funny... he was so tired he fell asleep while driving it. People that were walking past us would stop and start laughing. I finally felt so bad I picked him up and he was sound asleep on my shoulder.

Aunt Suzanne!

I am SO excited I can't even stand it! This past week my aunt called and planned a last minute trip to come see me this weekend! She will be arriving this morning. We are going to London today for the weekend and then we are going to hang out in Paris until Wednesday. Stay tuned and I will post some pictures and stories from our time together.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Devotional

Another devotional that I read the other day and wanted to share with you. It is also from my Jesus Calling Devotional Book.

"Beware of seeing yourself through other people's eyes. There are several dangers to this practice. First of all, it is nearly impossible to discern what others actually think of you. Moreover, their views of you are variable, subject to each viewer's spiritual, emotional, and physical condition. The major problem with letting others define you is that it borders on idolatry. Your concern to please others dampens your desire to please Me, your Creator.

It is much more real to see yourself through My eyes. My gaze upon you is steady and sure, untainted by sin. Through My eyes you can see yourself as one who is deeply, eternally loved. Rest in My loving gaze, and you will receive deep Peace. Respond to My loving Presence by worshiping Me in spirit and in truth."

It is so easy to be self conscious and always worry or wonder what others are thinking about you or what they are saying about you. I will admit that I am guilty of this all the time- wanting to please those around me. God tells us that we are to only look at ourselves through His eyes and trust in Him. We cannot look through friends or family to see what we look like (we can't wonder what others opinions about us are) because its only His opinion that matters.
